Reading Recap - November 2019

Hello and happy December!

The month of November was absolutely crazy and I felt like I was always on the go. But I did manage to start and finish four books. They are all pretty different (I read ALL the things) and I really enjoyed all of them.

So here's what I read in November:

The Broken Girls by Simone St. James
I thought this book was going to scare me and I would have a hard time reading it (I hate scary!), but I really liked it. Most of the book was tense and thrilling and I could feel my heart actually pounding in my chest as I read parts of it. It was definitely a little spooky, but I didn't feel scared as I read it.
The ending was a little slower than the rest of the book, but overall it was a quick, thrilling read that I really enjoyed!  4 stars

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Okay, so when I first started this book, I struggled to keep going. I found it somewhat boring and a little confusing and I felt like reading it was going to be forced and frustrating. But I really wanted to see why everyone else seemed to love it so much, so I pushed through and kept reading.
As I read, the book got so much better for me, but I was still struggling because I just didn't feel like I was invested in the characters.

And I can't even tell you for sure where that changed, but it did, and I found myself feeling so many emotions. This book is like nothing I have ever read before... it filled with me with hope, sadness, happiness, anger, and pretty much every other emotion possible. I will forever be changed since reading All The Light We Cannot See... if you're reading it and you find yourself tempted to put it down, do yourself a favour and keep reading. 5 stars

Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes
I really wanted this to be a 5 star read for me. I loved the dialogue at the beginning and was literally laughing out loud at times but as the book went on, the dialogue started to seem forced and the characters seemed like they were trying too hard to be funny.

I loved the story overall and it was a fun, lighthearted read. If you're looking for a cute story with likable characters, I definitely recommend it! 3.5 stars

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
I can’t even describe how much I loved this book! Such an awesome retelling of Beauty and the Beast with so many lovable characters - especially Harper, Rhen, and Grey.
Team Rhen or Team Grey? I can’t choose! I love both of them and I am so excited to read more of the story through Grey’s eyes in the sequel. Definitely, my favourite read of November and will definitely be on my favourite of 2019 list. 5 stars
